FYI. I found out about this group as one your group member visited recent GMU solar event past week and talked to one of my network member.
The technical committee is meeting on Monday July 21st from 8:30-9:30 pm at the house of Reuven Walder. 10815 Lombardy Rd. If you are interested in joining the technical committee, please contact Reuven at info@energyefficienthome.net
This is Jim Zepp. I originally started the Solar Collective to serve my neighborhood, the Northwood-Four Corners area of Silver Spring, MD. However, I have received inquiries from many of the surrounding communities and as far away as North Carolina.
Dealing with the many technical and financial decisions facing consumers interested in solar power technologies can be an overwhelming project. However, rising fuel costs, government incentives, and a desire to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels are good reasons for considering alternative ebnergy sources. Finally I realized that this challenge would be easier by drawing on the knowledge and skills among my fellow community members, This approach breaks the tasks down into manageable pieces that can be handled by residents who are best equipped or interested in the particular aspects of solar power systems.
Tackling this effort as a group also has the benefits of helping those homeowners who, despite an ionterest, have been hesitant to make the jump into solar power systems by providing mutual support and the opportunity to negotiate a discount from vendors who have their travel costs reduced by doing multiple installations in the same community.
